Biod an Athair

At last the blanket of cloud that has lain across Skye for the best part of three days slowly lifted this morning. We watched it rise up the 1000' cliffs of this aptly named hill of "Sky Peak" and after lunch set out to walk to the summit.

The trig point marking the summit is perched literally 1metre from the cliff edge making it one spectacular viewpoint. It is possible to lie on a rock to peer over the edge of the cliffs that plunge straight down to the Minch.

I returned along the cliffs in the picture, watching a pair of white-tailed eagles (adult & juvenile) exploring the coastline. They were a joy to see.

Unfortunately my walk was marred within a few hundred metres of the road by an obstructive farmperson who refused my passage. Enforced with expletives. I forgot it was still the nineteenth century in this corner of Skye.
