Cotswold delight
We had all day to get to Bristol as Eda was at nursery and Grace and John were having a pre holiday treat day at Clifton Lido.
So we headed to the NT Hidcote Manor and garden. It is located north of a Chipping Camden on the northern edge of the Cotswolds.
I chose it for it’s location but Orchid99 also mentioned visiting on her blip yesterday.
It is an Arts and Crafts garden the first stage of which was built between 1907 and 1914. Many of the gardens are in enclosures, a feature of Arts and Crafts, some were surrounded by high hedges and all were a delight. I was amazed how tall most of the plants were. Full of colour at this time of year but much of it was in cool blues and mauves.
It was well worth the visit but took us longer to get there than planned (traffic!) so we arrived too late for any hot food but had a very nice cheese scone and tea. A glimpse of the lovely Cotswold stone in the extra.
We had a wonderful greeting from Eda when we arrived in Bristol, a G &T and belated birthday gifts followed by BBQ. Shame we have to be up so early in the morning.
