Snapper!

This is a snapping turtle, an Eastern Snapping turtle I think. We apparently have 3 species and I don’t think this is an alligator snapper. However, he was big enough on his own. Probably 1.5 to 2 feet long. Take o look at the extras. He is armed with impressive claws, a dangerous bite, and a nasty attitude. They can be aggressive. I think he’s beautiful. He was just strolling down the road by a large waterway. His kin are why I always insisted the boys wear tennis shoes in their creek swimming hole! They tend to lay on the bottom of bodies of water and can do damage to appendages!
