100 AND COUNTING

It was officially the day of Bettys 100th Birthday today so I popped into the town at lunch time to wish them heartiest of congratulation only to discover a queue outside, doesn’t look that big on the outside but it was still reckoned to be a half hour wait so we picked up a coffee and a sausage roll and sat by the bandstand instead, the Manageress did pop over with a couple of fondant fancy’s free gratis which I thought nice of her, later on the local news they were filming in the Harrogate branch which had an old fellow boasting about visiting the tea rooms regularly for fifty years, had we gone there I could have got Dearest on the box, she’s been going since she was about six, that would be nearer sixty something years, hate to add up how much we’ve spent over decades!
Whilst munching our lunch a small brass band played a number of foot tapping tunes, found out they were lads from a school in the south of France who were over for a few days to perform in Keighley and Whitby during their school holidays, only one of them spoke a little English but a nicer set of teenagers you couldn’t wish to meet and they made some very sweet sounds to boot, added them as an extra.
