Donnan's Dynamos
Hendstock 8
Well, after all of our worries about the weather and all of the lengths we went to, to make sure no one got a soaking in the thundery downpours which we were promised, the rain went away, the sun came out, the crowds turned up and Hendstock 8 was a roaring success. Many people said it was the best ever which is wonderful to hear.
The day wasn't without hitches; The food van broke down and couldn't come, our MC couldn't make it sadly, due to a family bereavement, my dad was ill and couldn't come and we had quite a lot of electrical issues but wonderful people came to the rescue and, as if by magic, everything was sorted.
There are too many highlights to mention them all but;
A strong 'Barrett' contingent (apart from my poor old dad) was fantastic
Poppy and Aliyah's beautiful singing
Alfie's amazing guitar playing
Performing with T and Janine and looking out to a sea of faces, and all the 'teens' joining in
A proper bar, courtesy of Wylde Sky
Linton Red Poll steak rolls (especially at 2am!)
Singing along to the acoustic set, round the fire until 3am.
A quick count up puts the total raised for Meningitis Now currently at over £3,500. We couldn't do this without the help and support of everyone who turns up, puts money in buckets, performs, pulls pints, makes food, helps with staging, lights, sound and everyone who turns up the next day to put the garden back together again.
Thank you Hendstock people. You are all amazing xx
