Reed Beds

When we first arrived in West Barns over five years ago this area was no more than a puddle with some reeds around it. Because the area behind is an unused part of a caravan site, it was decided to dig a deeper and wider channel so that they could drain the caravan site more effectively. (Un)fortunately with the downturn in the economy they have not had the demand to develop the site so there are no new static caravans to blight the view. However, this landscaping has had the bonus of creating a rather nice area of reed beds.

Actually poor old Hoseasons who own the site had even more problems with this development as the one of the workers who were landscaping the site inadvertently left the ignition key in the bulldozer over an autumn bank holiday weekend and some local youths decided to go joy-riding. In the process of their travels they managed to hit several of the static caravans and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage. I somehow doubt whether the insurance covered this. A warning to all vehicle owners about leaving their ignition keys handy - you may not just lose your vehicle but the vehicle may have caused no end of third party damage for which you will be responsible !!

On that cheerful note, I will wish all my fellow blippers a Happy and Creative New Year.
