Ainsa Sunset

Back home and the big catch up begins. I'm actually going to try and write a little more so I can maybe actually use this as more of a journal.

A ridiculously early start after a 2.30 am alarm had us sitting on the tarmac at 6.10 for our flight to Madrid and then at 6.20, 6.30 etc etc. Apparently a small insignificant speaker had broken somewhere, although obviously not so insignificant that we could take off, anyway we sat, they literally turned the plane off and on again and then they kicked us off whilst we waited for a replacement plane and then 10 minutes after we got back into the building we were called back as it was suddenly fixed.

Normally such delays whilst annoying are shrug your shoulders moments but with a long car drive the other end and a last check in time of 9 pm we knew leaving 3 hours late would make it tight, then issues with the hire car lost us another hour but did involve an upgrade as they hadn't serviced the other one. Anyway we left Madrid at 1.45 rather than the hoped for 10am.

Anyway two stops and 400km later we made it to Ainsa. Luckily having stayed in the same apartments the previous years they essentially gave us the key and left us to it rather than escorting us as they had the previous year.

Ainsa is a rarity for us, we rarely return to the same place in Spain but this charming little medieval town had got its hooks into us and with  walking possible in a National Park and 2 Natural Parks within an hours drive we decided to return to undertake some new walks this year.

After we had been in for about half an hour this sunset unfolded (extras also) and we headed out to photograph, eat and have a couple of beers. The town has an ancient fort amongst other things and this is taken from there where there were many other people enjoying the ambience. In the end it turned into a 22 hour day but the sunset made it all worthwhile.
