Visiting

I'm no trainspotter, but when I get this opportunity to make a blip of an old renewed train, I can't resist. This is a MAt54, named the Hondenkop 766 and produced in 1954.

The train ride to Groningen was a great deal shorter than usual. We could visit both patients after one other. First, we we visited my niece in hospital. She is on the seventh day of her ten days chemotherapy. She is a very positive minded young woman and talks an awfully lot, but still we could help her with her list of 'things to remember or arrange'.

When we arrived at my father's, he sat dressed in his normal clothing on the rim of his bed. He isn't allowed to walk by himself in case of falling. The nurse only helped him standing and he shuffled to the chair in a few sideways steps. He looked paler but fine. He didn't talk about the war or his childhood today, but about a home video of 1991 he has been watching with the nurse. He likes to watch and talk about the photos and home videos with the carers.
When we noticed that he couldn't concentrate on our vivid conversation, we left for the station.

We have about 160 kilometers of long distance cycle holiday left.
