Fife Foray

A beach run before the heavy morning rains arrived.

Having checked the weather radar app our planned foray to Fife appeared to be rain free so we sallied forth with flask and tasty pitta sandwiches. Despite some mischievous dashboard warnings about tyre pressures we made good progress to Hill of Tarvit Mansion near Cupar. It was here that I spotted the Whiff-Waff set that reminded me of the former Mayor of London, and now PM, who courted controversy in Beijing in 2008

After a fascinating tour of this house and its gardens we made our way to the nearby Kellie Castle which was also a wonderful insight into life in a traditional Scottish keep. Its walled garden was simply stunning,

Southbound traffic on the Queensferry Crossing was at a crawl in the morning and similarly slow when we headed home. I assume the congestion is caused by the sheer volume of vehicles that are funnelled into two lanes to crawl across the bridge - just like we used to do on the original Forth Road Bridge.

The weather app was very accurate and as we crossed the Forth the haar cleared and the sun came out.

A grand day out!
