Flags of Canada and the Canadian Provinces
The Dominion of Canada was created by the British North America Act in 1863.
Since then the national flag of Canada and the provinces have changed. Currently there are as seen here in order:
National Flag of Canada with the red maple leaf
Ontario - red with union jack and coat of arms of Ontario - signifying British origins
Quebec - blue with white cross and white fleur de lys - signifying French origins
Nova Scotia - St Andrews cross with Scottish lion
New Brunswick - yellow field with ship and English lion above
Manitoba - red with union jack and coat of arms of Manitoba
British Columbia - union jack with rising sun below
Prince Edward Island - white with tree with English lion above
Saskatchewan - green and yellow with coat of arms and red lily
Alberta - blue field with coat of arms of Alberta with cross of St George
Newfoundand and Labrador - blue white filed with white border, white cross and saltire with two triangles lined in red with golden arrow
North West Territories - blue, white and blue field with coat of arms of NW Territories
Yukon Territory - green, white and blue filed with coat of arms of Yukon above fireweed
Nunavut Territory - yellow and white with red inukshuk and blue star
The rich and diverse heritage of the Canadian Provinces and Territories and their originating links with France and the United Kingdom (and England and Scotland) are still shown in these flags.
