A Walk to Diana's Bath
Dear Diary,
The heat is returning and I took the opportunity to stroll up to Diana's Bath in Bartlett, New Hampshire. It always feels 10 degrees cooler along the woodland path leading to the falls. Although I didn't get into the water, it was lovely just sitting by the falls and watching folks brave the chilly mountain stream. The Abenaki called the place the 'home of the water spirits' and there are lots of myths and legends surrounding it. It was named 'Diana's Bath' in 1859 by summer visitors to a local hotel. It stuck. I, however, prefer the Abenaki name.
