The Parthenon

Viewed from the height of Lycavettus. The top is best reached by funicular railway. The Parthenon is the columned building on top of the rock called the Acropolis.

The Aegean sea is beyond and the distant islands include Salamis, site of a victorious battle against the Persians in 680 BC.
