Tawny Frogmouths
We don't know how long this pair had been perching in our neighbour's tree, but we first noticed them on Boxing Day, conveniently able to be seen at eye level from our deck. Tawny frogmouths normally hunt at night, and adopt a camouflage pose by day, trying to look as much like an old tree branch as possible, but these two were keeping a close watch on me, and on one another, as I crept about my deck taking pictures of them.
