The Moor I
Sheffield does not have the most attractive of city centres, although the last decade or so has seen some very nice developments unifying the station, Hallam University Campus, the Cultural Quarter and the Peace Gardens. Rather than being in a block, the shopping area is a long, strung-out series of streets. The old Castle Market is situated at one end, and has seen better days. Work has just started on a new market at the opposite end in yet another attempt to liven up The Moor, the street in the photo, which, despite some large stores, has struggled to be the vibrant shopping street that it might be. It occurred to me that a photo project for this year might be to document the transformation of this street. This shot is taken from a spot known as Moorfoot. I'll aim to take a photo about once month to show the progress of the new market.
