Tropea onions (and spectacular cloud extra)

Beautifully mild, traditionally grown at Tropea in Calabria and a harbinger of spring. I grew these and they are delicious. On bread. With olive oil. And salt.

Then in the evening the most amazing thunderhead grew and boiled like lava in the distant Tiber Valley
