Parade of Sail
Today was the Parade of Sail in Kenosha (a city about an hours' drive South of Milwaukee), & seven Tall Ships took part in it. The Ships are all participating in "America's Tall Ship Challenge Race Series" on the Great Lakes, and it's Kenosha's first time to host the ships, as part of their "Festival on the Harbor" celebration. They couldn't have asked for better weather for the parade, and Tom & I took our folding chairs out onto the beach and had a front row seat....along with lots of others who had the same idea. My main blip shows, on the left, The Bluenose II--a Gaff Topsail Schooner out of Nova Scotia, Canada. The ship to the right is the U.S. Brig Niagara, out of Erie, Pennsylvania. The first extra is the Barque Picton Castle out of Nova Scotia, Canada & the second is another angle of the U.S. Brig Niagara as it made it's turn. They'll be docked in the harbor until Sunday morning & people will be able to tour them over the weekend. I have to say it was very entertaining to see these ships on Lake Michigan....it felt like we'd gone back in time. :))
