Elfwort

Suddenly all the colourful butterflies are out - lots of red admirals, peacocks and tortoishells frolicing on the  helenium. Known as helenium because this is what sprung up when Helen of Troy had a weep after causing all that trouble way back when. Also known as elfwort which I prefer. We went out for a bracing walk - more challenging than we were anticipating - and painted ladies were all over the ragwort. One lady was having trouble getting over the non-existent stile! She was wearing droopy, funky trousers.
