Wobbly Bridge
Another gorgeous day and the pace continues! We had to take Eugene, the car, in for its NCT/MOT in Skibbereen (passed with flying colours) and the lingered in town to the art trails - its Skib Art Week and all go. Art is a strange thing I have decided - very subjective. We saw a lot of very bad stuff but I did like some enormous oil paintings of the sea and seashore landscapes. Also I liked what initially looked like brown blobs but on closer inspection were rather complicated works made out of bog water with teeny inked drawings to look like cartography ( bog water is a rather loose definition, the process was complicated). Natural art was all around too. some rather nice wobbles and shimmers under this old bridge.
And it's Lughnasadh, the start of the Celtic festival welcoming in the harvest - and Autumn. Originally marked by climbing mountains (tick), eating bilberries (tick) and sacrificing bulls! We're gearing up to Bank Holiday and its the Ahakista Festival. Graham Norton is doing his quiz night in the Tin Pub this year. The Guinness has arrived, the portaloos are in place and the bunting is up!
And last night's play was interesting! A dark comedy about two sisters wondering how best to bump off their demented mother! It was sweltering in the little hall.
