This kind of scene is probably happening all over the country today. Here we are in a field somewhere near the town of Gatehouse-on-Fleet. There has been a parade through the streets of the town - trucks decorated with bunting, balloons and papier mâché, people dressed up as straw-maned politicians, Ken and Barbie (in the boxes!), "Gatehouse of Thrones", the victorious members of Liverpool FC, and (here) the characters from Toy Story, coming to collect their prize from the gala queen and her attendants.

The fancy dress was followed by a performance by the Samba Sisters, who worked up quite a sparkle in the heat, and a baby competition..Lots of people got stung by wasps (you can see one on this boy's shirt collar) and were advised to visit the chip van and ask for vinegar.

A good day was had by all...Joe came to tea...tomorrow another wee adventure begins :-)
