Result!

Longshaw today. Unlike the last few times I've been on duty, the weather was fine and visitor numbers were up. I took my macro lens more in hope that expectation of spotting a White-letter Hairstreak which had been seen by one of our visitors  a few weeks ago. I didn't get a chance to look right away, but I was summoned over by a visitor who had spotted a couple of these butterflies in the same spot. She was pretty confident in her ID but wanted reassurance. Of course, I was delighted to see them. They were feeding busily on creeping thistle and were not at all flighty.
