Glencoe

I'm sure that there have been many shots of this cottage in the main valley of Glencoe, given that it's clearly visible from the main road, but I coudn't resist the urge to try my luck.

Before driving up Glencoe we went to Mass in the lovely little church in Ballachulish: with a wonderful (visiting) priest and a happy congregation.  More to the point, all the hymns were in my limited register and the organ was loud enough to mask my imperfections while singing

The weather was just about right, gloomy with some small bright patches giving variation to the lighting in the cloud, most of which was on the high ground – "hill fog" the met man calls it; "cumulo-granitus" is what pilots call  what is a very high risk to their health.

There was much traffic on the roads, and the  car park at the Glencoe Visitor Centre (National Trust Scotland) full, so we visited the Ski Centre first, having a decent lunch in the lower hut; we then drove to Glen Etive, took the obligatory shot of Buachaille Etie Mór, then back down to the excellent Visitor Centre.  I read again about the massacre in 1692, the inquiry etc . . . I must read a proper history of the event.
