Powell's City of Books

No One Street documentation of Hawthorne Blvd. in Portland would be complete without a blip of Powell's Books. This isn't the gigantic storefront in downtown Portland, it's one of the annexes; but it is formidable in its own right. And anything that is at the downtown store can be delivered here for easy pickup - this store is just a few blocks from our house!

Portland loves its books. Some reports claim that Portland has the most bookstores per capita of any US city; and we consistently support our libraries in bond elections.

Anyone who says the book industry is dying should visit any of Powell's storefronts in Portland. Reading and buying books are alive and well here.
