Poppy -Day 5 Orkney holiday

I woke to the sound of rain lashing on the window and got up to find it looking like the old fashioned fishmongers window which always had a curtain of moving water flowing down it.

It didn’t seem a very propitious start to my day away in south Ronaldsay with blipper Poppy as I waded myself through puddles to the bus stop. However in the time it took the bus to get to St Margaret’s Hope, the rain had cleared and the sun was making a valiant attempt to break through the cloud cover.
I had an ecstatic doggy welcome from little Lottie and a less vocal though equally welcoming one from Poppy.

We spent a considerable time having an in depth discussion about knitting before taking Lottie for a very short walk round the policies and lunch. The large glass of wine might have been a mistake when we suddenly felt sleepy afterwards as we sat in the garden in the sun. But it takes more than a glass of wine to stop the chat and we blethered on until it was time to get the bus back to Stromness. The bus drove back through quite a dense blanket of incoming sea haar which suddenly descended but it just as quickly cleared as we neared Stromness.

I wanted a picture of Lottie posing with Poppy against the purple heather and this is it. Lottie does have a face and have included an extra to prove it.

It’s been such a lovely day and I can’t remember ever seeing another seaside cottage to match Poppy and Mike’s. It is so pretty and artistic- just delightful.
