I got the best part of the day early this morning with a Long Beach walk for Mowgli. I moved the van then to Bunowen beach for breakfast and a view of the Ballyconneely World Championship Sand Castle building competition. 40 kids turned up in weather that threatened rain. The castles were built when the skies opened and we had unbelievably heavy rain for a sustained period. I was soaked before I even registered for the 4K swim. Due to very strong winds the course and distance had to be changed. But a huge number of people showed up to support the local cause. It was a lovely warm swim in the end.

The rain continued as we headed to Roundstone for food.
We finished the evening in the van with the event photographer KO’B and his wife, with a whole load of Galway chat.
