This is a bunch of kids reading out leaflets I made before this biodiversity fair. One of the partner staff who works at Chimanimani Reserve got them all excited to recite the contents so I leapt over for a photo.

The President showed up in the afternoon for a tour of the event and the showing of a video about anti-poaching as well as some words underlining the support for conservation at the highest level in Mozambique. It amuses me that his entourage is despatched in advance to guarantee the appropriate level of pomp and that seating arrangements are minutely made; only then for one of his most senior advisors to turn up in an Adidas tracksuit.

Later with around 25 representatives of the various partners, we took over a restaurant for a group dinner. One of my counterparts, who shall remain nameless, uttered the amusing line after the opening drink: ‘I’m driving so I’m ok to go onto wine’. [from the more vehicle-impairing gin]
