Whitby to Pickering (and back)
With the weather looking variable, after a morning climb up to Whitby Abbey we decided to take the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Pickering and back. The trains were quite quiet in both directions, we were going the opposite way to most travellers! The route is a fabulous slice through the countryside and the stations along the way are all nicely restored.
At Pickering we had a hour or so before the train back so had a little wander in the town. Locally made chocolate was purchased and a quick drink before we headed back. There was intermittent rain on the run back to Whitby but plenty of twists and turns for photos.
Back in Whitby we finally got caught in the rain but decided to get a bit soggy whilst walking up to the famous whalebone arch before a mandatory fish and chip (veggie alternatives for some) dinner in the town.
Back to out little house, we’ve had an evening of the bemusing card game Fluxx. Annie and I are still to win a game!
