Venus
In my previous blips I have twice featured the Science Garden in Derby's Alvaston Park which includes a model of the inner Solar System at a scale of one metre to 1,000,000 km.
Today's blip shows the park's representation of Venus. The sharp-eyed may notice Mars lurking in the distance at the end of the tree-lined path. It is a shame the park doesn't include the more interesting looking planets of the outer Solar System, like Jupiter or Saturn, but sadly the park isn't big enough for that. On this scale Jupiter would be somewhere in the outskirts of Derby and Pluto would probably be near Nottingham.
My previous blips of the Science Park were on 17th October and 1st October. I must take a shot of Mercury some time to complete the set.
