Beetroot

We’ve been enjoying watching the series of Portrait Artist of the Year currently showing on Channel 4. Tonight we watched the semifinal and the artists were drawing Courtney Pine, the jazz musician. It’s fascinating to watch the different ways the artists approach their drawing/painting and the final effect. Such skill and imagination. It certainly inspires me to want to draw.

Other than this, the highlight of the day was making a chocolate and beetroot cake - a first for me. It turned surprisingly well - moist, rich in a dark chocolate kind of way and huge! Good job I did lots of cleaning and working at the allotment to work up an appetite.
