Lower Compton (Saturday 17th August 2019)

As it didn't rain today I was able to make it over to the recycling centre this afternoon with a trailer load of forsythia cuttings (although I couldn't load all of it and will have to return). A red kite was calling from a nearby tree but out of sight. Afterwards I drove on to Hills Pools nearby, where I did see a red kite being mobbed by a crow as I pulled over.
At the two pools there were some mallards, moorhens and some swooping swallows catching insects. There were also very many dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies, bumble bees and other insects. There are a few creepycrawlies all over this selection of fleawort and willowherb, which I am putting in this week's Wild Flower Week - thank you, Miranda, for hosting. In Extras is a mallard drake in eclipse plumage (taken with my Nikon P900).

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Temptations - Psychedelic Shack (recorded to 2 December 1969, Hitsville and Golden World Studios, Detroit MI)
This was the title track of their Norman Whitfield produced album of 1970, but it maddeningly faded out for no reason in the middle of a verse at 3:50 (the single was even shorter), but in 2003 a longer version appeared on a 2CD compilation of Norman Whitfield's more psychedelic work with the Temptations, including this long version, surely the definitive version. My copy of Psychedelic Soul arrived this morning.
