Whitby Sunset

Backblip

I go to a lot of folk activities and festivals and know a lot of folkies so was a bit surprised to find that out of all the musicians at Whitby Folk Week I only knew one person.  We were having breakfast at the B&B when in walked this man that I know - what a coincidence that he was staying at the same digs!

In the morning we went to Grosmont on the North Moors Steam Railway where we had a look around the sheds as F is particularly keen on steam! We've been on the railway a few times but a train ride is always enjoyable.

In the evening we went for a stroll around the town where we saw this lovely sunset. It shows the Captain Cook memorial statue as well as the Whalebone Arch (it was a whaling port).

We went to a pub session when it got dark which was packed with musicians. During the evening we had a performance of rapper dancing from North British Sword Dancers who were touring the pubs . It's a fast and furious dance where 5 dancers dance with steel rapper swords. It's amazing how they can dance so brillliantly in such a small space without injuring anyone! (Extra photo).
