Let’s start at the very beginning...

What a wonderful day I’ve been given! This part of Surrey is a delight!

GadgetKid and G have been discovering places of amazing beauty over the years they’ve summered or wintered in the UK, villages of special significance and buildings of architectural interest.

Today GK and I began in Albury Park and the church of St Peter and St Paul, known locally at “the Saxon church” and dates from the period just prior to the Norman Conquest. My photo is of the chancel, leading to the tower.. the original chancel. The Drummond family were significant in this area and Henry Drummond chose to refurbish a side chapel for his family mausoleum. My extra shows some of the stained glass and the image niche in the chapel.

We then drove to a village called Forest Green and eventually found a lovely little church, really off the beaten track. The windows had all been removed for cleaning and there was a lady there high up on some scaffolding doing the very specialist job of cleaning the huge arch window over the door. Again, wonderful architecture. Another extra.

Back home to Shere and we enjoyed an ice cream from Shere Delight, sitting outside the church.

We’ve been blessed with another day of beautiful weather. I have been very happy to be the driver while GK has followed her phone and her nose.
