Aran cardigan pattern

My friend is going to knit this for me. I am a very lucky person.

It amuses me that it is called a jacket and not a cardigan. Has the the word cardigan has changed its meaning to something without buttons and with wide sleeves to the hand knitting community.I have an almost identical pattern from years ago that is called a cardigan. I wanted a new pattern because the old one has tight arms that end 3 cm above the wrist. Not a current style. Also the old one has a narrow button band and a short body. Only subtle differences but they add up to making the old pattern look old fashioned.
