Eyesore!
This is currently the view from our rear bedroom window.
The local tennis club has erected two marquees to provide all-weather courts. They have done this without planning permission, and even without consultation with local residents. The club is now seeking retrospective planning permission, and these 'temporary' marquees might well become permanent were the permission granted.
We, and neighbours even more seriously affected, are fighting the application, and the deadline for objections is fast approaching. This photograph forms part of the evidence that we have submitted.
That said, from the point of view of Blipfoto, it is interesting to examine the aphorism stating that The Camera Cannot Lie! Our 'photo here was taken on full optical zoom (17.1 mm), and then cropped to give a further enhancement of a factor of 1.4 (width). The equivalent for 35 mm film is thus getting on for a focal length of 150 mm. For comparison, here is the scene from the same viewpoint taken with no zoom (5.7 mm), and roughly equivalent to a 35 mm wide-angle lens in a film camera.
I do not wish to suggest for one moment that the marquee is not still offensively prominent, but perhaps it is not dominant. There are more things to see, such as the bare vine outside our window, our shed, next door's Wendy house, and so on. But that does not excuse the appearance of a large intrusive structure looking like an industrial shed that is completely out of character with the rest of the local environment.
One unusual feature is apparent in both pictures: the sun was shining, even if maybe a little weakly!
