Historic

At one time it was thought that King John’s House in Romsey was once a hunting lodge built at the express with of King John back in the 13th century.
But architectural investigation ruled out that theory when evidence was unearthed that it was probably not built until after King John’s death.
Yet, whatever the true origin of this historic part of the town, the trio of buildings which make up this part of the town, just a stone’s throw from the equally historic Norman Abbey, form one of the best known medieval preserved parts of Hampshire, along with magnificent grounds which provide an unblemished view of the Abbey tower. The adjoining Tudor Cottage has an enchanting tea room.
