Splint casts taken
Rafi has had a lovely wakeful day today, in fact he has been awake for most of the day! He has also been moving his left hand up to his neck, moving his right hand a little. He also seemed to be bending his knees to command, but stopped as soon as I decided to take some video!
He has also been opening his mouth and I am hoping that I have seen him try to swallow . If he is able to swallow and gag ( protect his airway) he would be able to have the tracheostomy reversed which would be fantastic as it is a fairly constant source of aggravation to him.
He sat out in a different chair with the physio and OT today that looked more comfortable.
The picture shows the cast that was taken of one of his legs so that he can have splints made to keep his feet in a good position.
They have scheduled Rafi in for his shunt insertion operation on Monday, so just hoping he has no infections before then which would prevent this happening. Once he is free of his drain (EVD) he can venture away from the ward which will be so good for him.
