Common darter

On the pond this morning when I went for a wander before it got TOO hot.  Clearly, no-one had told him how badly his reddish colouring was clashing with the pink flowers of the water mint, because he insisted on coming to rest on one or other of these flowers.

I've spent some more time on the wings this afternoon - making some straps, but am now awaiting measurements from my daughter to ascertain exactly where to fasten them.

We started a load of washing this morning, but were stymied by ongoing problems with our water supply.  W went to hang out the first load, only to find the washing still standing in brown water!  We emptied the machine, and decided to give up for today.  Pressure and colour seem ok now, so hopefully we can get it done tomorrow.
