The Future

If could see the future
What changes might I make
Would I do things wrong
To see if the reading was a mistake

If I could see the future
And know that all would be as it should
Would I simply not try
Knowing that success was understood

If I could see the future
And know that all would fail
Would I work to change things
Whatever that might entail

If I could see the future
Would it make a difference at all
Would I still consider my life
To be anything other than small?

If I could see the future
Would it make me feel that bit better
Would I have more confidence
No more the also-ran, more a go-getter

If I could see the future
If I could know my path was right
Would I be more forceful
Not give up my dreams without a fight

If I could see the future
What more coud I do
Would it answer the question
"Will I always be loved by you"?
