BLUE MOVIE

Spion Kop cemetery was full of Common Blue butterflies today, springing up from the ground with every step. It's as though there were flakes of sky blowing all over the place.There were lots of territorial and competitive spiralling flights going on and much mating competition among the grass and flowers. This pair were being constantly interrupted by other males, always too fast for me to focus on, but there's a blurry extra to give some idea of the frantic activity all over the place. It all bodes well for lots more butterflies next year.
