Beacon Hill Park
Somehow Ottawacker Jr and I are coming to the end of our third day here in Victoria, and while we miss Mrs Ottawacker immensely, we are having a lovely time.
Today's outing in the scorching summer heat took us to Beacon Hill Park, where we managed to avoid intense sunstroke by skulking round in the shade. All except OJr, of course, who took advantage of less adult supervision to give a master class on the zip line, get stung by a bee, feed nuts to peacocks and ducks, and find the world's largest watering can to give him a soaker.
All in all, a very successful day.
Beacon Hill Park is quite lovely, and I am amazed that such oases of beauty still manage to survive in Canadian cities. Victoria manages to get the best of Canadian weather, which is why the average age of its inhabitants is 78, and also has a distinctly English feel about it. By which I mean a distinctly Brexit-like-nostalgic-this-is-what-it-was-like-in-the-1950s feel, and not anything based in reality.
Jesus, there I go again :)
Anyway, Victoria is very nice and well worth a visit.
