The best gardening day of the year so far ...

The beech hedge is in and this event needed to be recorded. It was late before I got round to it hence the flash.

Beech must be my favourite hedge. It hangs onto old leaves - it's hard to let go. Yet new leaves are beginning to emerge, unroll and make the most of the sun.

Wee bit worried that the soil was, unsurprisingly, a little wet. But beech is a hardy thing.

Good start to the year.
