Scout Scar

Warm, dry but blowing a hooley- a perfect afternoon to go up onto Scout Scar and have the cobwebs blown away.,

This made me wonder what is the origin of "hooley" - internet suggestions are:- i) a raucous  badly behaved party ( Irish). ii) Hooghley' as in the river in Calcutta where the wind blows like the mistral in the dry season
iii) the Scottish word ‘hoolan’, which means ‘strong gale’. iv) maybe nautical as in blowing a hooli(gan) of a wind - take your pick.
