Rural Midlothian, near Kirkliston. If you've ever wondered why bales are round it is because they are packed more densely and this shape makes them more moisture resistant. They also can be transported and stored by a single person with a tractor.
It is not all bad news that summer is receding fast because the changing seasons bring wonderful photo opportunities in glowering skies, intense colours, lighting, transformed landscapes and human activities.
