Born to Blush Unseen?
Apologies to Thomas Gray, there's nothing elegiac about these lilies, though the weather today is very end-of-season.
These must have been planted back in the spring, though I don't remember doing it, and was surprised to see them struggling into flower in a pot beside the front door. We hardly ever enter or exit the house that way, and they had been left entirely to their own devices. Just as well we've had a lot of rain. They could have done with a few sticks to support them in the gales, but I quite like their dishevelled look.
So here they are, looking bright and scenting the air - they aren't wasting their sweetness!
