Orphans

Back from my trip staying with friends in Devon.

Here are the two orphan calves on the farm.  The mother of the small black one died at birth and it has taken a long time for him to start growing.  The other one had a mother who turned really dangerous after the calf was born and it is not worth endangering those who look after the livestock. She could easily have killed so unfortunately we had to let her go.  The two have each other and soon there will be another joining them as we have some bought-in calves to rear from a neighbouring dairy herd and one of them is nearly ready to be weaned.
