Blue plaque ...
...on this now Barclays Bank in Dorchester today states....”This house is reputed to have been lived in by the Mayor of Casterbridge in Thomas Hardy’s story of that name, written in 1885.” We came into Dorchester to see the movie Mrs Lowry & Son. A very sad story!
We began the day visiting a small farm providing life long housing and employment for adults with learning difficulties run by my sister’s son-in-law and his brothers and parents. It was wonderful. We also saw lambs born this morning.
Elsewhere trainees were weeding the beautiful flower beds used for weddings, and collecting vegetables for their lunch and evening meal, all cooked under supervision by themselves in the kitchen.
