Gnarled and Old.

In the Fellows Garden of Emmanuel College is this Great Oriental Plane tree. It is thought to have been planted in the early 1800's. It is a tree often seen in Greece and Turkey. This tree was celebrated by the Spanish poet Luis Cernuda, in his poem El Arbol. He was at the college in the 1940's.
