Red Knot & Sanderling
A walk in Deerness. Nothing of note at the Lighthouse Quarry Garden. I walked to the Barns of Ayre then aong to the Point of Ayre and had coffee in the lee of the point as a shower moved through. Along the path to Newark Bay was the remains of a predated heron- maybe a peregrine took it. Near the slip at Geo were 25+ turnstone and about 6 each of sanderling and a single red knot. Also there- a stoat. In the image here the sanderling is hard at work and I noticed that the knot would then nip in and pinch whatever morsel uncovered by the smaller bird.
