Glass blowing!!
Not an activity you expect to see as you travel along the river!!!
We are progressing through the 34 locks on the Main river, no idea how far we have got yet, but the ever changing scenery is interesting!!
The glass blower got on the ship to provide us with a demonstration. The glass came in the form of long tubes in different dimensions and the heat provided by a Bunsen burner type of appliance. It was fascinating to see and he is an amazing craftsman as well as a highly amusing speaker. He demonstrated the blowing with the help of one of the passengers and they made a Christmas bauble!!! It’s now in a box and will head home to Australia!!!
We docked after lunch in Miltenberg. Passengers were invited to afternoon tea with local families. Our hostess lives in the village of Eichenbühl, a short drive from Miltenberg. She had 14 of us for tea and was assisted by her daughter in law and 2yr old grandson. We learned a great deal about her family and life in the community. This cruise company, Travelmarvel, are the only ones who include this visit in their itinerary.
It has been quite a restful day, no dancing after dinner tonight as we have an earlier start tomorrow morning.
