Oban's first XR event

Today's been a good day - dry and sunny. The fairly recently formed Oban branch of Extinction Rebellion held their first event today - outside Tesco at first, then to the council offices. We were very strictly keeping away from the doors as requested and talking to people who came out of the shop. I lent a hand for a while handing out leaflets inviting people to a meeting in a fortnight's time, but the lack of interest was disappointing. I asked one gentleman if he would like a leaflet explaining the problems of Climate Change and he replied that he wasn't a resident. When I asked if he was not a resident of the planet he wasn't pleased!

It was a start, so time will tell how things will go on in Oban. Several people I've spoken to refuse to accept that there a problem of any kind but XR is a very rapidly growing movement worldwide.
