Rooftop dusk

Went to a talk about the history of our neighbourhood.  The event was not planned as well as it could have been but appeared to be a foray into residents' historical accounts.  Even I a score and ten younger than others could fill in gaps.  Chivers, the jam company used to be just up the road from us. The 1930s houses' plots once formed the Chivers apple orchards and many still have the original trees in the gardens. When we moved here in the mid-1980s we were advised by council pest control to get someone from Chivers to rid us of wasps. The reason being that their fruit fields attracted them and they took responsibility for eradication. Sadly Chivers, fruitpicking and any other benefits no longer exists nearby.
